Golden Rules of Branding

There are so many things to keep in mind when building your brand. We’ve talked about your ideal client, how to create an intentional brand, and how to build brand loyalty! That can be a lot to keep track of, so we decided to make a list here of the golden rules of branding. These are the things we have found are the most important when it comes to our branding!

Be clear on your mission

Clarity is everything, and having a focus will not only help keep you organized, it will help your audience know what you’re about! We know it can be tricky for people-pleasers like us, but keep in mind that you are not for everyone, and that’s okay! With your focused message, the people who really want to follow along will be even more committed to you and your brand. Really carve out that niche and make sure you’re creating content that aligns with that niche and with the people who you’re serving!

Learn your audience

Speaking of people you’re serving – it’s so important to learn about them! Get to know them: who are they? What do they like and dislike? What do they need right now? If you don’t know, ask them! Surveys, instagram quizzes, and communication on social media will let you know what your audience looks to you for and how you can better help them.

Be genuine

Be yourself! We’ve heard it a million times, but it really is such a true little cliché! People can see through a disingenuous act, so be honest about who you are and what you stand for. You don’t need to try and be like someone else – you are the only you there is! If your brand is selling a product or service, keep in mind what that product or service can do for them! By promoting it organically and genuinely and having the mindset of service, your audience will be more receptive to it.

Be consistent

This is two-fold! The first part is to keep your main focus on your niche, and consistently create around it. The second part is to show up consistently! Post often and be in communication with your audience. This kind of comes back around to learning about your audience. What can you do to help them solve a problem they’re having? Talk to them about it!

Create positive impact

Be kind to others! When you turn your focus to what you can do to help your audience, you’re more likely to create a bond of trust. Being kind to others also includes being kind to people who work within your niche! We really believe in the spirit of collaboration over competition. We’re all in this together, so let’s lift each other up and encourage one another!

Be ready to fail

Building a brand is trial and error – and that’s okay! We’ve all had to learn some things the hard way, but you know what? That means we learned something new and now have a better understanding of how to approach that issue in the future! And that’s amazing! Making a mistake does not mean you’ve failed. And failing does not mean that it’s over forever. Keep trying and learning and growing! It’s a process, and you’ll always be making mistakes and learning new things. But it can be so rewarding!
