Meet Kaitlin!

Hi everyone, I’m a new face around here, so I thought I’d introduce myself! I’m Kaitlin, and I’m so excited to be a part of the Pirouette Paper family. I thought since you’ll be hearing from me a bit on our social media channels, I’d let you get to know a little about me.

Collaboration over Competition

I met Kaylyn in 2012 at Disneyland, where we worked together! We’ve always had lots of things in common: our love for white wine, Taylor Swift, an address for a while, and our creative spirits! We’re both artists, and it’s so amazing to have another creative friend to collaborate with. Because that’s really what we’re about – collaboration over competition!

I’m a watercolor artist for my own brand, Golden Aged Art, and I started working for Kaylyn unofficially when she would commission me for custom elements that some of her designs needed. When she asked me this year to join her team, I was honored and so excited! I have so much admiration for the way she runs Pirouette, and I’ve learned so much from her just by watching her grow over the last nine years.

I love that she’s always been so open with me about how to grow my own business without there being any tension or competition. That’s hard to find in creative industries, which is so disappointing because imagine how much more we could inspire people if we focused on creating community instead of competition? If we worked together, we could reach more people with our message. Which is why I think Kaylyn is such a wonderful person. She really has a heart for helping people.

Anyway, here are a few fun facts about me!

  1. I was born and raised in Southern California and currently live in the LA area with my partner James.
  2. I absolutely LOVE Taylor Swift. I’ve loved her since the start of her career. My current favorite song of hers is Mad Woman from folklore. I just really relate to the emotions behind it and I love to scream sing it in my car dramatically.
  3. When I’m not painting or working here at Pirouette, you can find me reading. My goal this year is to read 30 books (because I’m turning 30 this year!) I’m on book 18, so it looks like I’ll reach my goal!
  4. I graduated from UCLA in 2020 (what a wild year to graduate, right?) with a Bachelor’s in English. I’m such a literature nerd.
  5. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Paris. I’ve visited twice so far and am already looking forward to planning another trip back to the place where my heart feels like it could explode from all of the magic the city holds.

If you’d like to follow me on my own creative journey, you can find me on Instagram here and here or at my website! I can’t wait to get to know you all a little better and create a community of support.
